The EOPS PROGRAM
The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is a state-funded support program
designed to provide academic support, financial assistance and encouragement for eligible,
academically and financially underprepared students. The goal of the program is to
help eligible students meet their educational objectives, whether they seek occupational
certificates, associate degrees, or transfer to four-year institutions.
The CARE PROGRAM
As a supplemental component, EOPS runs a state-funded program to provide additional
support for SBCC's single parent population. The Cooperative Agencies Resources for
Education (CARE) program serves low-income single parent students who receive cash
aid from CalWORKs. In addition, CARE provides educational support services designed
for the academically underprepared. Financial assistance and childcare may be awarded
as a means of strengthening the retention, persistence, graduation, and transfer rates
of these individuals. Students participating in CARE may choose to pursue vocational
certificate or license, associate degree, or transfer to four-year universities.
Check out the EOPS Services for further details on how we assist our students.
