The LRC offers a series of

Learning Skills and

Writing Skills Workshops.

    • LRC Learning Skills Workshops: See below for a list of LRC Learning Skills Workshops
       
    • LRC Writing Skills Workshops: As part of the LRC workshop series, we have several Writing Skills Workshops scheduled for the current semester. The skills and strategies learned in the workshops can be applied to writing in classes across the curriculum.
       
    • Learning Skills Workshop Series: Gateway Center: Learning Skills Workshops are also being offered at the Gateway Center. For the Gateway Center and other learning skills workshops, visit the Student Success web page and click on the Learning Skills Workshops link.

All LRC Learning Skills Workshops are held on Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. The Writing Skills Workshops are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm. Both LRC Learning Skills Workshops and LRC Writing Skills Workshops take place in the Cartwright Learning Resources Center CAI 2 classroom, next to the Luria Library on West Campus, unless otherwise noted. Workshops are open to all SBCC students unless noted. Seating is limited, so arrive in time to secure a seat. Videos of some Learning Skills Workshops are available in the LRC. Look for "Learning skills workshop" in the LRC media database.

Time Management
Thursday, February 28th, 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM.
Manage your time effectively and create healthier lifestyle patterns.

Overcoming Procrastination
Thursday, March 14th, 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM.
Learn about causes of procrastination and create an action plan to eliminate it from your life.

Test Taking Skills
Thursday, April 4th, 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM.
Increase success and confidence by examining academic and emotional management techniques.

Learning Styles
Thursday, April 18th, 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM.
Identify your own learning styles and how to adapt them to the dominant teaching styles.

Memory Techniques/Study Skills
Thursday, May 2nd, 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM.
Learn how to study with more confidence and efficiency through specific memory techniques and skill building.

Stress Management
Thursday, May 16th, 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM.
Learn to manage stress and obtain a healthier lifestyle for better overall wellness.
