Meet The Staff

We believe you should know a little about our advisers/counselors...

Sabrina

Sabrina Barajas has worked for the Transfer Achievement Program since Fall 2005. She received her B.A. in Sociology from UCSB and her M.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Professional Development and Career Counseling from Antioch University. After completing her M.A. Sabrina worked as a counselor in the Career Center at Santa Barbara City College and as an adviser for T.A.P. Since then Sabrina has also worked at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria as a counselor in the transfer center. Currently Sabrina is still working at Allan Hancock College and for TAP as a counselor. Sabrina was originally born in Bakersfield, CA but grew up in Santa Maria, CA and attended Santa Maria High. In her spare time Sabrina loves playing with her 6 month old baby and spending time with her husband.

Rosina Wright-Castro joined the Transfer Achievement Program in 2011 as the program coordinator. Rosina was raised in Carpinteria, CA. She attended UC Santa Barbara where she earned her B.A. in Sociology and Spanish. Rosina remained at UCSB where she worked with the Educational Opportunity Program as a counselor for underrepresented students and at the Center for Chicano Studies developing university outreach services for Latino students in the local area. While at UCSB, Rosina earned her M.A. and PhD in Education.

Since joining SBCC, Rosina has worked with Cal-SOAP developing college preparation services for underrepresented students and has also coordinated the Health Education Program for Student Health Services. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors running and hiking.

Angiepic

Angelica Rodriguez joined the Transfer Achievement Program team as a TAP counselor in January 2012. She grew up in Ventura, CA. She received her BA from UC Santa Barbara in History and M.S in Counseling and Guidance from California Lutheran University. Mrs. Rodriguez has experience working as a counselor at all levels of education including community colleges Diablo Valley College and Gavilan College. She has also been a EAOP Regional Coordinator for UC Berkeley. In her free time she enjoys playing with her two children, watching foreign cinema, running, and cross fit.

Gabriela (Gabby) Guzman-Morales recently joined TAP as a Counselor. Gabby is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, but moved to Santa Barbara 10 years ago. She received her B.A in Communications and Spanish from San Diego State University and earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with Emphasis in Latino Mental Health from Antioch University. Gabby started working at Santa Barbara City College in 2004 as a Peer Advisor in the ESL Department. Soon after, she began working as a Front Desk Clerk in Admissions and Records, where she remained for the last six years. In her free time, Gabby enjoys practicing outdoor sports (running, biking, and swimming) and going shopping with her husband.

Laura Cardenas

Laura Cardenas joined the Transfer Achievement Program January 2012 as a student worker, she is currently working as the Student Program Advisor. Laura was born and raised in Santa Barbara. She received her AA in Liberal Arts at Santa Barbara City College and is going to be attending Antioch's for her BA this Fall 2012. She is a single mom with three daughters. She works part time in the Transfer Achievement Program and will be attending school full time. On her free time Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Most of her free time consist of various sports activities her children are involved in, including traveling with her daughters travel soccer team.
