Joan Cannon hits .368,
earns first-team honor

 SBCC center fielder Joan Cannon has been selected to the first-team All-Western State Conference Gold Division softball team. The freshman from Berkeley hit .368 with 27 stolen bases for the Vaqueros (23-14, 9-7), who tied for fourth in their division.
 
Cannon was third in the WSC in stolen bases and led the team in runs (31) and hits (46). She struck out just five times in 125 at-bats and had a 1.000 fielding percentage with no errors in 52 chances.
 
Pitcher Kailey Snyder was a second-team choice while shortstop Laura Cannon (Joan's twin sister) and first baseman Amanda Sharp made honorable mention.
 
Snyder, a freshman from St. Joseph High in Santa Maria, went 6-5 on the mound with a 1.20 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 81 innings. She also batted .373 with two home runs and a .600 slugging percentage.
 
Laura Cannon hit .304 with a team-best 30 runs. She also had 41 hits and 30 RBI. Sharp, a sophomore infielder, had a .320 batting average. Janelle Wong, a catcher/DH from Dos Pueblos High, led the team in hitting (.436), doubles (16) and slugging percentage (.629).
 
Moorpark had the MVP Player (Taylor Neumann) and MVP Pitcher (Kelly Eder) while Ventura's Susan Johnson was Coach of the Year.
