Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara is a relaxed beach community located ninety miles north of Los Angeles on the picturesque south coast. A city of 90,000, Santa Barbara is known as a college town, an arts and culture mecca, and one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, located "where the mountains meet the sea."
The year-round Mediterranean climate is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, surfing, kayaking, and boating. Students enjoy the city's beautiful beaches, the walkable historic arts district downtown, daily farmers markets, access to public transportation, and Santa Barbara's active, healthy lifestyle.

SBCC and the Community
Santa Barbara City College is recognized as a major asset to the community. Santa Barbara locals enjoy productions by the award-winning theatre company at the Garvin Theatre, football games at La Playa Stadium, art exhibits at the Atkinson gallery, and visits by leading scholars, writers, and politicians--including Barack Obama.
Over 50,000 residents enroll in the college's Continuing Education program each year.
SBCC alumni become community leaders, start local businesses, and act as mentors to
current students. Students at Santa Barbara City College are welcomed to the college
and into the community at large.
