Welcome to SBCC Men's Volleyball
Santa Barbara City College has enjoyed great success in men's volleyball, thanks to a plethora of local talent and top recruits. Ben Koski was named male Athlete of the Year, then played at UCSB and was invited to try out for the USA National Team. Vernon Podlewski moved on to the University of Hawaii and became one of the best liberos in the country. He was also invited to play with the USA National Team. Armen Zakarian, who was named head coach in July, 2010, was SBCC's male Athlete of the Year in 2005 and he has coached the USA National Boys Volleyball team. Many players have used SBCC as a stepping stone to play NCAA Division I volleyball.
Our program strives to achieve peak performance by training the body and mind through commitment and hard work.
Santa Barbara is recognized as one of best volleyball towns in the country. East Beach, just a couple of spikes from campus, is one of the premier volleyball venues in the world. Professional players love to train at East Beach, which has hosted both AVP and amateur tournaments.
