It was a big day for the SBCC men on Saturday with the Vaqueros' top doubles team scoring a major upset to reach the semifinals of the 112th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament.
Miles Seemann and Joshua Crisp-Jones, seeded No. 8, outlasted No. 1 Sam Betram-Adam De Romas of Fresno 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 (tiebreaker) at the Ojai Athletic Club.
"Miles and Josh played well from the start," said coach Ryan Heinberg. "We led the entire way in the tiebreaker. The guys kept great focus throughout the match."
Seemann/Crisp-Jones will take on No. 4 Luis Jaimes-Mensford Owusu of Mt. San Jacinto in Sunday's semifinals at Libbey Park South, starting at 8 a.m. The Community College doubles final will take place at 2 p.m.
On Saturday morning, Seemann fell to No. 2 Andre Almeida of Fresno in the singles quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-1. It was only the second loss in 17 matches for Seemann, the 10th seed.
