Santa Barbara men’s tennis has a strong reputation for excellence in the classroom and on the courts. The Vaqueros captured their first State Championship in 1989 and have won nine Western State Conference titles.
Since the 1970s, SBCC has produced strong, competitive squads that focus on the overall effort of the student-athlete as opposed
to the outcome. Student-athletes are challenged, in a positive and supportive environment, to strive for individual and team
goals. Developing a strong character is a key component of SBCC’s model of success.
Ryan Heinberg became the head coach in 2010. Heinberg, who grew up in Agoura, was a two-time champion of the Southern California
Sectionals and nationally ranked in the top five. He played NCAA Div. 1 tennis for Duke University.
