Vaqueros just miss playoff berth
Ward is 26th in Southern Cal Regional
After a difficult season, SBCC got hot at the end of the year and nearly grabbed a Southern Cal Regional playoff berth in
men’s golf. The Vaqueros came up five strokes shy of grabbing the No. 3 spot in the 36-hole WSC Championships.
Dodge Ward, a freshman from San Marcos High, tied his season best with a 1-under 73 in the final round of the WSC Championships
at Los Serranos CC in Chino Hills. The par-74 South Course is the longest in California at 7,521 yards from the black tees.
Ward qualified for the Southern Cal Regional and placed 26th (76-79--155) in the 36-hole event at Bermuda Dunes CC. Matt
Boberg, a freshman from Sweden, also had a solid season, highlighted by a fifth-place finish (74-74) in the season-opening
Bakersfield Invitational.
The Vaqueros, who had an all-freshman squad, finished seventh in the WSC with a 14-46 record.
