System Requirements for Online Courses

Hardware & Software Requirements


HIT & CIM Programs

Computer: As a general guideline, a computer three years old or less is best. It should be running at least Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, or Mac OSX.

Internet Access: A satellite, DSL, or cable connection or higher is best. Dial-up connections are not recommended, and will be problematic. If you rely on your employer's Internet connection, be aware that firewall restrictions and policies may exist that prevent you from accessing all or part of your course, using our online tools.

Own E-mail Account

All currently registered SBCC students are given e-mail accounts through SBCC Pipeline.

 

EHR/Health IT Workforce Training Program (Electronic Health Records)

Note: Currently the National Training and Dissemination Center (NTDC) can only confirm successful installations of VistA for Education on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Installation of other operating systems (i.e. OSX, Linux, etc.) cannot be supported.

Minimum System Requirements (IMPORTANT) 

1. Minimum of 5 GB of free disk space is required on the system c:\ drive. To determine free disk space: Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking My Computer or Computer in Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-clicking Local Disk (C:), and then clicking Properties.

2. Minimum of 1 GB RAM is recommended. To determine amount of RAM: Open System by clicking the Start button, right-clicking My Computer or Computer in Windows Vista or Windows 7, and then clicking Properties.

3.Administrative rights on the system.
