Counseling Questions

If you are transferring to SBCC from another college or university this section is for you:

New Student Advising is strongly recommended for students transferring to SBCC from another institution. New transfer students from other colleges and universities are welcome to participate in our on-campus advising sessions and may meet with an academic counselor for quick questions at the front desk or by scheduling a "same day appointment" in person during regular service hours. Please arrive as early as possible because appointments are limited and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Students may schedule a maximum of two same day appointments per semester. Before new transfer students come to campus for a same day appointment you should check your pipeline account to ensure SBCC has received all outside college transcripts. www.sbcc.edu/admissions/files/IncomingTranscriptsReceived.pdf If not, you should have official or unofficial transcripts with you at the time of the appointment. Please note that unofficial transcripts cannot be used to fulfill prerequisites for courses such as English, math, biology, etc. If you plan to enroll in courses that require prerequisites (i.e. English, math, biology, chemistry, foreign language), please review this link carefully, as deadlines are strictly enforced. We strongly recommend calling in advance to inquire about counselor availability and for more details.
