Parking Enforcement

PARKING
Parking permits are required to park on campus at all times. For more information on how to obtain a Student Parking Permit go to Parking Permits or contact the Cashiers Office at (805) 965-0581 x2397. Staff should contact Campus Security (x2264), and faculty should contact Human Resources (x2261).
Parking permits must be affixed to the lower left hand corner of the windshield. Failure to do so may result in a violation to your vehicle. Citations may also be issued if vehicles are not parked in proper lots. Please be aware of the signs throughout the campus to avoid receiving a citation. See the Campus Transportation Map for parking lot locations.

CITATIONS
If your vehicle receives a Parking Citation it may be paid in person at the Cashiers Office. You may also pay on line at www.paymycite.com/sbcc or by phone at (866)450-2527 or you can send a check or money order made payable to: SBCC – CASHIER and mail it to: Santa Barbara City College Attn: Cashiers Office, 721 Cliff Dr. Santa Barbara, CA 93109. Citations must be paid or appealed within 21 days of the issue date to avoid a late charge of double the amount of the ticket.

UNPAID CITATIONS
Unpaid parking citations may result in an administrative hold being placed on a student’s record. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will also be notified of all unpaid citations.
Vehicles with five (5) or more unpaid citations can result in “booting” or towing.

APPEAL PROCESS
In accordance with Section of 40215 of the California Vehicle Code, a citation may be contested within 21 days from the date issued or 14 calendar days from the mailing of a notice. To appeal a citation you will need to fill out a Rescind form. The Rescind form may be obtained from the Campus Security Office during normal business hours or from the Parking Kiosks. Results of an appeal will be sent within 7 to 10 days from the date that the Rescind is received. If it has been more than 10 days and no response has been received, please contact Campus Security at (805) 730-4064.

An individual who is dissatisfied with the outcome of the initial review may request an Administrative Hearing within 21 days of the mailing of the initial results. The Administrative Hearing may be done either in person or by submitting additional written documentation. Prior to the Administrative Hearing, an individual must pay the parking penalty fee as a deposit. Recipients of AFDC, SSI/SSP, unemployment or general assistance as well as displaced homemakers may request an exemption from paying the deposit prior to the Administrative Hearing. VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL EXEMPTIONS.

If an individual is still dissatisfied a Court Hearing may be scheduled with the Santa Barbara Municipal Court within 21 days of the mailing of the Administrative Hearing results. To file an appeal in court a filing fee of $25.00 is required.
