CLRC Computer Assisted Instruction Classrooms

The Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) labs are two computer classrooms located in the Cartwright Learning Resources Center. They are available for classes during the CLRC's open hours.

CAI Lab FAQs

The CAI classrooms are available during the LRC open hours.
Fall Summer
Monday through Thursday: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm  
The CAI lab provides the following:
  *35 iMac Macintosh computers for students
  *an instructor workstation
  *a video projector
  *a laser printer
  *VHS player (DVDs can be played on the iMac computers)
The iMacs have both office programs as well as teaching and learning applications. Some of these are:
  *Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
 

*Firefox, Safari, and Chrome internet browsers

  *WordXpress Vocabulary builder
  *iWorks 09 (Pages, Keynote, Numbers)
  *Ethnoquest
Instructors use the CAI labs creatively to support a wide range of teaching goals in weekly, biweekly, or individual sessions. Here are a few examples and ideas:
  *In-class writing exercises
  *Online research for papers and class projects
  *Introductions to Moodle, library databases, and other online resources
  *Online tests and exercises
  *Multimedia presentations (PowerPoint, DVDs, music...)

  • If you have questions or requests concerning the CAI labs, contact one of the computer lab LTAs. Therese Schweidler (schweidl@sbcc.edu) is available from 8:00am to 3:30pm. Regina Reese (rareese@sbcc.edu) is available from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.
  • If you are interested in making a program available for student use in any of our labs contact Alexander Torres, the Instructional Lab Coordinator at ATTorres2@sbcc.edu or call ext. 2668.
