Chris Phillips

As the Career Center Director, Chris enjoys a wide variety of responsibilities that his job never becomes routine.

Chris coordinates all the career development and work experience classes on campus and teaches every semester. His favorite part of the job is working one-on-one with SBCC students exploring their education and career goals. Much of his time away from the Career Center is spent with his two children and playing tennis.

His advice to students is to keep an open mind about their future and to seek out practical experience through internships, volunteering and part-time jobs.

Michelle Ciccati
Career and Life Transitions

As a returning student herself, Michelle has found a perfect fit here, in the Career & Life Transitions program. Michelle is a full-time student here, at SBCC, and a full-time mother.

Part of Michelle’s job is to find resources on campus for returning students, to keep in contact, and to brainstorm ways of better assisting them. Last semester she was the president of the Re-Entry Peer Support Club and she will be the Treasurer this semester. The club is now called C.A.R.A.T.S. (California Advocates for Re-Entry and Transfer Students) and is always looking for new recruits.

Michelle’s advice to fellow students would be to seek out and utilize all the amazing resources on campus, get involved in campus life and join a club, these are great ways to stay focused on your goal of graduating!
