Lydia Deems I have been a Career Counselor at SBCC since 1991 and still love my job. It is a privilege to get to work with students and potential students needing clarity, information or help setting goals. I earned my BA degree in Psychology from UC San Diego and an MA in Education, with a Counseling Psychology emphasis from UC Santa Barbara. Aside from my job, I love spending time outdoors in nature. I try to take a walk on the beach or on a trail in the foothills almost every day. I love to garden and have over 30 fruit trees and lots of deer, gophers, and squirrels. |

Holly Eubank I love my job as a career counselor! I decided to become one after I completed a few internships in career counseling. I attended SBCC, then I graduated from Westmont with a BA in Communications. My Master's degree is from Cal Lutheran University and worked at San Marcos High School for 10 years before coming to SBCC. I teach General Work Experience 290 and provide career counseling to students. I'm proud to be the mother of two, who keep me busy! I love hiking and camping with my husband and kids – we make a point to enjoy beautiful Santa Barbara! |

Val Eurman I help students to choose majors, determine career direction, and find and prepare for jobs. I see each student that comes in as unique and I love the challenge of helping find the right path. I also provide extra support to the Career Technical Programs and teach a class focusing on career development and decision making. I am bilingual, having majored in Spanish at UCSB and studying for a year in Madrid, Spain. I worked in the realm of education abroad at UC and am a big believer in the value of studying in a foreign country. Stop by and say hello in whatever language you choose. |

Kristin Frascella I am the Worksite Coordinator which means I help students find jobs, coordinate the jobs fairs, work with employers in the community, help students write resumes and a bunch of other stuff. I studied Art History and Italian language at Indiana University and received a master’s degree in Organizational Management from Antioch University. I am most proud of pursuing my dream of living and working in a developing country which for me was India. I think everyone should travel to a place that slightly “scares” them - it builds character! |

Jan Jackson I've enjoyed assisting students and faculty in various capacities at Santa Barbara City College for 15 years, and especially enjoy how eclectic my current position is in the Career Center. I am a Santa Barbara native and SBCC graduate. I've been a small business owner for 30 years, headed up many clubs, committees, and large events at SBCC and in the Santa Barbara community. Some of my hobbies include skiing, hosting parties, and hiking the hills and beaches of Santa Barbara with my dog. I especially enjoy helping students with finding jobs, majors and career goals. |

Chris Phillips As the Career Center Director I enjoy such a wide variety of responsibilities that that my job never becomes routine. I coordinate all the career development and work experience classes on campus and teach every semester. My favorite part of the job is working one-on-one with SBCC students exploring their education and career goals. Much of my time away from the Career Center is spent with my two children at the beach in Carpinteria. My advice to students is to keep an open mind about their future and to seek out practical experience through internships, volunteering and part-time jobs. |
