All-WSC pitcher had 2.47 ERA
Kylin Turnbull, a left-handed pitcher from SBCC, was picked in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday
by the Washington Nationals.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound sophomore from Hillsboro, Ore., was the sixth pick of the fourth round and No. 127 overall. It's
the highest pick for an SBCC player since 2002 when Delwyn Young was chosen in the fourth round by the Dodgers.
Turnbull was 5-2 with a 2.47 ERA in 80 innings for the Vaqueros during the regular season. He struck out 92, the fourth-highest
total in California, and walked 17. He had four complete games, including back-to-back 4-0 shutouts of El Camino and Ventura
in early March. He struck out 13 in each game while tossing a 3-hitter and 4-hitter, respectively.
He was a unanimous first-team All-WSC North choice.
In the 2010 MLB Draft, Turnbull was a 30th-round pick of the Chicago White Sox.
SBCC was 24-17 and captured its first WSC North title since 2007 with a 15-5 mark. The Vaqueros beat Riverside 2-1 in a Southern
Cal Regional playoff series and advanced to the Super Regional for the first time in school history.
