Welcome to the Home of the Vaqueros!
What We Do
Located on the beautiful coast of California, Santa Barbara offers the ideal climate for year-round athletics. Whether it's
football in La Playa Stadium overlooking the Pacific Ocean, basketball in the Sports Pavilion or golf on one of the many beautiful
courses around town, Santa Barbara has something special for all athletes. We invite you to learn more about the athletic
program by clicking on the sport that interests you.
Beautiful Seaside Setting
The seaside campus of Santa Barbara City College is just steps from the beach. SBCC offers 17 sports for men and women. The
Vaqueros have captured eight state titles, most recently in Women's Golf in 2006 and 2008. Like all California Community Colleges,
we do not offer athletic scholarships but qualified athletes are eligible for financial aid, like all other students. We have
a dedicated coaching and support staff who care about your success in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. Call
or write us if you are interested in becoming a VAQUERO.

Message to SBCC Athletic Staff, Current Students and Potential Student-Athletes Regarding the Vaquero Football Program
On July 25, 2010, Jim Sartoris, Commissioner of the Southern California Football Conference (SCFA), informed Dr. Andreea Serban, SBCC Superintendent/President, that the SBCC Football Program had fully complied with the terms of the probation imposed in June 2009. As such, the SCFA Executive Committee has "terminated SBCC's probation status and restored the college to good standing."
Mandatory Physical Screening is needed to participate in practice
A physical screening is mandatory to participate in athletic practice and competition. When downloading the forms for a physical it must be completed by a medical doctor. Physicals are not accepted from chiropractors, physician assistants or nurse practitioners. A stamp must accompany the doctor's signature.
All physicals are good for one year from the date they were given. You must turn in a physical to the athletic training staff if you complete this before your season starts. It is advised to get your screening from your personal physician or wait and complete this with your sport on the date designated for the team.
