Waitlists
What is a waitlist?
The waitlist prioritizes the enrollment of students in a class
after it has reached maximum capacity. Being on a waitlist does not guarantee
you a seat in the class. It is always best to enroll in a class with open seats
when possible.
How do I add
myself to a waitlist?
Enter the CRN of the class on the Add Classes Worksheet OR select the check box in front of the CRN and hit submit on the Look Up Classes page.
.

How will I know if I have cleared the waitlist and am eligible to register in the class?
CHECK YOUR PIPELINE EMAIL REGULARLY! You will be notified
via email to your Pipeline email that you have cleared the waitlist and are
eligible to register in the class. You have 72 hours from the time the email is
sent to officially move yourself from waitlisted to registered in the class. The
email includes the specific steps you must take to officially register in the class.
After the 72 hours, you will not be able to move from waitlist to registered and
will be required to re-add yourself to the waitlist if space is available.
Am I automatically
registered in the course when a seat becomes available?
No. You will be notified via email to your Pipeline email
that you have cleared the waitlist and are eligible to register in the class.

Can I waitlist in
a course if I don’t meet the prerequisite or corequisite?
Can I waitlist in a course if there is a time conflict?
Can I waitlist in more than one CRN of a course?
No. All registration rules are enforced for waitlists.
What if a class
does not have a waitlist?
Not all classes have waitlists. Search for an open seat
in another CRN of the course. You may attend the first day of the class to see
if the instructor is able to accept adds. If yes, the instructor will provide
you with an Add Authorization Code to officially add the class.
What if I don’t want to be on the waitlist
anymore?
Go to the Register, Add, Drop Classes page in Pipeline. In the action box, select the drop status to remove yourself from the waitlist. Submit your changes.
How can I check
what position I am in on a waitlist?
Login to your Pipeline. Go to Registration. Select
“Student Detail Schedule” for the semester.
View your position on the waitlist.
The web schedule shows a seat available in a class with a waitlist. Why can’t I take that seat?
The waitlist is actively managing the enrollment in that
class. The first person on the waitlist has been notified that he/she is
eligible to move from waitlisted to registered. That student has 72 hours from
the time of notification to do so. If he/she does not, the next person on the
waitlist will be notified.
What if I am still on a waitlist on the first day of class?
If you still wish to add the class, you must go to the first class meeting. The waitlist will be used to prioritize the distribution of add authorization codes on the first day of class only.
Online class? Send an email to the instructor on the first day of class indicating that you are on the waitlist and still wish to add the class.
In either case, if the instructor is able to accept adds and approves your request, you will be provided with an Add Authorization Code to officially add the class.
When will the waitlists be cleared?
The waitlists are inactive on the first day of class. Faculty will use the waitlist roster to prioritize the distribution of add authorization codes on the first day of class only. Be sure to attend (or if the class is online, email) on the first day! The waitlists will be purged on the last day to add for the course. Remember, being on a waitlist does NOT guarantee you a seat in the class.
